The ICT/Business studies Department
At present there are four teachers qualified to teach across the whole ability range. We are currently looking to expand the Department to five members and are looking for an experienced teacher who can develop the new AS and A2 courses in both subjects.

ICT
All students have timetabled lessons of ICT and we are increasingly using ICT across all aspects of the KS3 curriculum. Students taking ICT in Years 10 and 11 follow the AQA Information and Communication Technology course. In Years 12 and 13 AS/A2 level students follow the AQA Information and Communication Technology course. Additional students may also sit a short course GCSE in ICT and, in September 2005, the Department introduced an ICDL course, to run alongside the teaching of the Core element of the Key Skills course.

Business Studies
Business Studies is a relatively new subject to the School and, at GCSE level girls follow the AQA Business Studies course. AS/A2 level Business Studies has been introduced to the school curriculum in September 2006. Additional students who did not take Business Studies in Years 10 and 11 may also sit a short course GCSE Business Studies in Year 12.

Both ICT and Business Studies are extremely popular subjects within the School, with girls attaining high grades. The courses being offered by the Department both involve a coursework element as well as a written examination. We endeavour to keep both subjects as practical as possible, with a large emphasis on practical work and projects – much of the work studied in lessons relates to actual events which take place locally.

The ICT and Business Studies Department is well resourced with excellent facilities. The Department is made up of spacious rooms, well equipped with projectors and Interactive whiteboards. Latifa School for Girls has an advanced and up-to-date network of over 300 pc’s and associated hardware which allows students and staff to work both in Arabic and English.

Candidates should have proven experience of teaching both ICT and Business Studies up to GCSE and A level. They will enjoy working across a variety of disciplines but be particularly interested in helping the Department to introduce the ICDL course to the sixth form, Business Studies as an AS level, as well as to help develop the recently introduced A2 ICT course. The new ICT and Business Studies teacher will possess the ability to communicate her knowledge and enthusiasm to pupils at all levels. She must be willing to work co-operatively with others in a generously resourced, outstanding working environment. Above all she should be prepared to enjoy the challenge of working with girls for whom English is a second language and whose cultural background is different from her own.
